STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A student brought a knife, a BB gun, and two vapes to Mountain View High School on Friday, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Authorities did not identify the student by name due to a Virginia law that protects the identities of minors. The student is charged with underage possession of tobacco and two counts of weapon possession on school grounds.

School staff suspended the student, and juvenile intake authorities took the student into custody.

Around 10 a.m. on Friday, the school resource officer at Mountain View High School learned that a student may have a gun. One student told school staff that they heard the suspect mention that they had a gun.

The deputy found the suspected student, who confirmed that he had something hidden in his waistband. The deputy found that the student had a knife, a BB gun, and two vape devices.

"The student confirmed all the items were in fact his and he knowingly brought them into the school," the sheriff's office said.

The student was then taken into custody.

"Thank you to not only the amazing staff for their handling of this incident, but to the student who originally reported the incident," the sheriff's office said on Facebook. "While no real firearms were involved in this incident, not being afraid to report suspicious activity can help keep our schools safer."
