Bee Swarm 'Size Of A Small Child' Neutralized In Stafford ICYMI
A swarm of bees described as the "size of a small child" was neutralized last week in Stafford. Some 40,000 bees were captured: SCSO.

STAFFORD, VA — Nearly 40,000 bees reported to be "a swarm. . .the size of a small child" were relocated into beekeeper's boxes last Wednesday night in a tree on James Madison Circle, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. The swarm was approximately three feet tall and more than two feet wide.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m., an animal control officer, Anthony McCall, responded to the scene to see if he could be of assistance — this despite the fact that he's no real fan of bees. But he knew that Nathan Thompson is a third-generation beekeper who also happens to be interim chief of the Aquia Harbour Police Department.

Thompson and his father, Earl, took the bees down and methodically put them into beekeeper boxes. And the bee-fearing officer? He was stung but twice.
