Bellamy Young to Campaign for Hillary Clinton Friday in Fredericksburg

Best known as Mellie Grant in the ABC drama Scandal, she will make other stops in NOVA in support of the Democratic presidential nominee.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Actress and producer Bellamy Young will make two appearances Friday in Fredericksburg on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and running mate Tim Kaine, according to a release from the Clinton campaign.

Young, who plays Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama series Scandal, will discuss the ticket's support for paid family leave, affordable child care and pay equity for women.

Her first apperance will be 1:30 p.m. at a campaign volunteer appreciation event at the Democratic National Committee field office at 313 Central Road.

The second appearance will be 2 p.m. at a Women for Hillary house party at 726 William Street.

Bellamy also will attend two events tonight in Ashburn and Reston, as well as two other events Friday in Manassas and Woodbridge. On Saturday she'll attend three events, two in Alexandria and one in Arlington.

Her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, campaigned in Fredericksburg last Saturday.

Trump is trailing Clinton in Virginia by 14 points among registered voters and by eight points among likely voters, according to the latest Washington Post poll. In the D.C. suburbs, such as Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax, he trails by 45 points, by 7 in the Northern exurbs and by 17 points in the Richmond area.

His only lead is in Southwest Virginia, a 26-point margin.
