Black History Month

As an Ahmadi Muslim I celebrate this month to be thankful to the heroes of our nation.

Black history month is observed in the US, Canada, Ireland, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom in remembrance of important people and significant events in the history of African-Americans. It is certainly a great way to celebrate their accomplishments, achievements, and their contributions done in the past that has shaped today’s world differently because of them. Their sacrifices, dedication and perseverance can be realized by glancing back throughout the history of our nation. Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson, Langston Hughes, and Maya Angelou are just few names from the long list.

As an Ahmadi Muslim I celebrate this month to be thankful to the heroes of our nation. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said that “whoever is not grateful to the people, he is not grateful to God”. So, in accordance with our true Islamic teachings we love and appreciate the hard work of those courageous people and applaud their devotion for they are the ones who gave us a better today as a nation.
