Bluemont Summer Concert with Black Sheep

Black Sheep Concert July 25

The Bluemont Concert Series is proud to present Black Sheep on Saturday, July 25th for the third of seven Saturday evening concerts in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The concert begins at 7:30 PM. All Saturday evening concerts take place at Maury School Stadium, located at the intersection of Hanover Street and Kenmore Avenue in historic Fredericksburg.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic to enjoy before the show. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for kids under 12; proceeds go to support Bluemont’s year-round Artist-in-Education program in area schools. As at all Bluemont concerts, no pets, alcohol or smoking are allowed. In case of bad weather, the concerts will be held at James Monroe High School. All are welcome to these family oriented events.

Black Sheep is a five-member band based out of Washington DC that pushes reggae’s frontiers through jazz and rhythm and blues, bringing American musical flavors to reggae’s African rhythms. The group’s music is unique in its positive message dealing with real issues of ecology, urban violence, drugs and racial accord. As its name implies, it is music made by outsiders for outsiders. Together for more than twenty years and winners of multiple WAMMIE awards (Washington Area Music Association), Black Sheep keeps its music fresh with innovative harmonies and a fusion of diverse influences. Band members are Moata Kenyatta on bass guitar, Isa Abdullah on keyboards and vocals, Abasi Johnson on percussion, Dontez Harris on saxophone and flute, and Baron Tymas on guitar.
