Bluemont Summer Concert with the Flaming Shillelaghs

Flaming Shillelaghs Concert August 1

The Bluemont Concert Series is proud to present The Flaming Shillelaghs on Saturday, August 1st for the fourth of seven Saturday evening concerts in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The concert begins at 7:30 PM. All Saturday evening concerts take place at Maury School Stadium, located at the intersection of Hanover Street and Kenmore Avenue in historic Fredericksburg.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic to enjoy before the show. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for kids under 12; proceeds go to support Bluemont’s year-round Artist-in-Education program in area schools. As at all Bluemont concerts, no pets, alcohol or smoking are allowed. In case of bad weather, the concerts will be held at James Monroe High School. All are welcome to these family oriented events.

The Flaming Shillelaghs first performed for the Bluemont Concert Series in the 1980s for First Night Leesburg. Since then, they have delighted audiences with their spirited renditions of traditional Irish dance music, haunting ballads and infectious humor. The Flaming Shillelaghs are Jesse Winch on guitar, bodhran, and harmonica, Joe DeZarn, fiddle, Tina Eck, flute and whistles, and Melissa Dunning on vocals. Their performance will also feature traditional Irish step-dancing. They’re multi-talented, multi-instrumentalists who never let a good tune or song get by them.
