Bomb Threat Reported At Jewish Temple In Stafford: Police

Authorities evacuated a Jewish temple in Stafford County on Monday morning after a bomb threat was reported.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A bomb threat was reported at the Beth Sholom Temple and Day Care in Stafford on Monday morning, the county sheriff's office said.

No injuries were reported and authorities said they did not find any explosive devices.

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office has not announced any arrests or identified any suspects in connection with the bomb threat.

Around 11 a.m. on Monday morning, deputies were called to the Jewish temple on Lyons Boulevard to investigate the threat.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the building was evacuated and citizens were escorted to the Howell Library," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook.

The building reopened after deputies determined there were no explosive devices on the property.

"Detectives are currently investigating the bomb threat," the sheriff's office said. "Thank you to staff of the Howell Library for your assistance and compassion regarding this matter."

The Anti-Defamation League maintains a running tracker that catalogs antisemitic incidents of harassment, threats and vandalism. In 2023, the tracker has recorded 49 incidents around Virginia, including two in the Fredericksburg area.
