FINDING ART

The 80/20 thing is biting at me again. You remember: 80% business, 20% shooting. That 20% shooting can be quite aggravating at times. I've created a list of places I want to shoot between Occoquan and Richmond. Have I gotten out lately? Not even close. Too much business getting in the way. Of course, too much business never really gets in the way, but I swear I go through withdrawal when I can't get out and shoot.

To resolve this problem, I've been shooting in the yard. Spring flowers and all that. But spring is well on its way behind us, the flowers have died, and quite frankly, I'm bored with shooting the yard.

So the other day I'm putting bubble wrap away, storing it in the cellar in a neat little (big) pyramid and I start looking around. Now understand, the cellar is my SO's territory. I barely find things when I need them. I know where the tools are, and that's what counts, but if I'm looking for something off the wall that I know is stored in the cellar, it's most likely been moved since I last found it. The point here is that my SO is constantly rearranging his space to fit his needs. Hey, it's his territory.

After stacking the bubble wrap, I started looking around his space. I notice there is more space to move around, which means he's been busy, and suddenly I start looking at things in a different light.

Look at that, that's cool the way the golf shoes are lined up, so precise...

Check out the bird feeders, the way they hang...

The bucket of golf balls aligned with the golf bag...

Suddenly I was seeing art everywhere. His organization created my canvas.

I spent last Saturday shooting in the dank, dim cave of the cellar. It was enough to ease the withdrawal symptoms.

Goes to show, with a little imagination you can find art anywhere you look.
