I was recently asked if I would like to be an additional lens for the Walk To End Alzheimer's. Of course I said yes. Alzheimer's is a frightening condition. My grandmother suffered from dementia in the latter years of her life. I often wondered what really was going on in her head. Recently I read an article about an Alzheimer's simulation for staff who work with Alzheimers patients. It really shocked me what an Alzheimer's patient endures. It terrifies me that my grandmother went through this confusion.
So yeah, that's the main reason I'm shooting the Walk to End Alzheimer's event. I do this out of my time because it's an important issue among today's elderly. And what's really frightening is that Alzheimer's patients are coming to care facilities at younger and younger ages. It's no longer a 70s, 80s or 90s disease.

I am more than happy to donate my photography time to worthwhile non-profit events. I actually donate to 2-3 every year. I admire those who volunteer their time and effort to these organizations and I love the enthusiasm of the participants.
When donating, I pick and choose carefully. Usually it's a cause close to my heart. I've donated event photography to Rikki's Refuge Animal Sancturary and Mayan Families Spay/Neuter program and I'm on my third year of the Fredericksburg Dog Fair. I've taken time with Wounded Warriors, HeartChase and several community events that I felt worthwhile to shoot and promote on this blog. Every one of them has meant something to me.
