Thousands of people from across the country will join together June 1 for the 2013 American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk in Washington, D.C.
The 18-mile walk is aimed at raising funds and awareness for suicide prevention. It begins at sunset on June 1 and will end at sunrise on June 2 -- as walkers come 'Out of the Darkness.'
Close to one million people attempt suicide in the United States every year, and more than 38,000 die from suicide.
