Why are cartoons slowly becoming dangerous for our kids?

Are cartoons beginning to be too dangerous for our kids because there's always a secret message behind them??

I know as a parent of three wonderful children all under age 7, I am really careful as to what my kids can watch on T.V. (Netflix) and what they cannot watch. I love them to death, and there's nothing more important to me than for them to grow up with the values that I have. Now I'm not saying there's anything wrong with recycling, I make it a point to recycle. However, my son who's now 5 years old, recently turned to me and said, "Dad, I want to recycle." Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for recycling, but I believe this is a direct result of the cartoons he's been watching right now.

I can't imagine he got this thought from watching myself or his mother since we rarely buy two-liter bottles of soda, or the 12 ounce cans, and I've never talked to him about recycling. And of course this does not make him a prodigal son by any stretch, but my concern is, what is the entertainment industry trying to do? If I want my child to recycle, I will teach him to recycle. If not, then it's none of their business.

Why is it that every cartoon, every kid's movie, is about saving the whales or cleaning up our planet. It's like the ideal world 15 years from now for all these liberal entertainment execs is to have a society full of environmentalists, never mind literacy rate is at an all time low, test scores are at an all time low, the SAT's have been dumbed down in order to raise the test scores, and as a nation, we rank close to last in a direct comparison between our students and other countries' students in almost every category of study. It used to be in the past we raised up mathematicians, scientists, historians, innovators, great thinkers. Kid's nowadays just want to be an activist, to save the rainforest, to save the Spotted Owl, to save the Ozone Layer, or to save the ice glaciers. I am frustrated. I believe it's up to me and my wife to teach my kids' values, but instead of being free to put on a cartoon for them every once in a while, now I have to worry about what they're trying to slowly teach my kids... Your thoughts...
