Christmas Day Fire Was Intentionally Set In Stafford County: Police

A Stafford man has been charged with arson in connection with a Christmas Day fire at a mobile home that displaced 3 people.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A Christmas Day fire at a mobile home in Stafford County was intentionally set, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

Nobody was injured in the fire, which displaced three people.

Authorities charged 41-year-old Jonathan Rios with one count of arson on Friday. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

If convicted, Rios could face up to 10 years in prison.

Around 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 25, deputies were called to the 600 block of Ramoth Church Road. A caller reported that a man was breaking the windows of a mobile home.

The mobile home was engulfed in flames when deputies arrived on the scene, according to the police report.

"Stafford County Fire and Rescue crews extended multiple lines and brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes," the sheriff's office said.

The Stafford County Fire Marshal's Office determined that the fire was intentionally set. A witness told authorities that they saw Rios and a woman arguing in the home shortly before the fire began.

Rios was arrested at the scene on outstanding warrants from Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County.
