Christmas Parade To Shut Down Fredericksburg Streets On Dec. 2

Fredericksburg city officials have announced several planned street closures for the Dec. 2 Christmas parade.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Street closures will come to the City of Fredericksburg on Dec. 2 for the annual Christmas parade.

City officials announced the closures last week for the popular parade, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Parking restrictions will begin as early as 2 p.m. on the day of the parade. Any vehicles parked along the parade route could be towed at the owner's expense, city officials said.

Here is the full schedule of road closures and parking restrictions for the Fredericksburg Christmas Parade:

  • At 2 p.m., parking restrictions begin at the following locations.
    • The VRE lot on Sophia Street.
    • 300-1000 blocks of Caroline Street.
    • 100-200 blocks of Amelia Street.
    • 500-1300 blocks of Princess Anne Street
    • 100-300 blocks of George Street and William Street
    • 100-400 blocks Wolfe Street, Charlotte Street, and Hanover Street
    • 800 block of Charles Street
  • At 3:30 p.m., the above streets will be closed to traffic.
  • At 5:30 p.m., the parade begins.
  • At 9 p.m., streets will reopen.

"Information about where to park and the best places to view the parade is available online at www.FredericksburgChristmasParade.com. The parade is free for the public to attend," city officials said in a news release. "Please dress for cold weather and wear walking shoes."
