Chuck E. Cheese​ Plans Grand Reopening In Fredericksburg

The Chuck E. Cheese in Fredericksburg's Central Park shopping center will be reopening on July 30, with raffles and free cake.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Chuck E. Cheese in Fredericksburg’s Central Park shopping center will be reopening on July 30.

The space at 1280 Central Park Blvd. is currently being refurbished to prepare for the reopening. A grand opening is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 30.

At the grand opening, Chuck E. Cheese will offer raffle giveaways and free cake. The first 25 families will receive free play during the grand opening event. Chuck E. Cheese and other special guests will be making appearances at the event.

The new location also will be hosting a "first to play" event on July 30 ahead of the grand opening event. Children from the Salem Fields Learning Center and Fredericksburg's Mayfield neighborhood will be among the first to try out the new location.

The Irving, Texas-based restaurant chain filed for bankruptcy on June 24 due to financial strains from the coronavirus crisis. As part of the bankruptcy plans, the Fredericksburg location of Chuck E. Cheese was scheduled to be closed permanently.

Last December, CEC Entertainment, the parent company of Chuck E. Cheese, announced its emergence from Chapter 11 protection.

After emerging from bankruptcy protection, the company changed its mind on the closure of several locations, including the restaurant in Fredericksburg.
