Rappahannock Health District PD-16: Testing results are lagging behind as much as 3-7 days, and these results were from the testing completed at the end of last week or the beginning of this week. As the numbers continue to increase you will see the reason many are concerned with how quick this could escalate. Here in our immediate region, we have a total of 20 cases as of 9:00am this morning:
- 13 – Stafford
- 3 - Spotsylvania
- 2 - Fredericksburg (No additional info available on the 2nd positive case)
- 2 - King George
Social distancing is even more important than ever, especially with the good weather weekend, people are wanting to get outside and enjoy the spring days. If you are going out you must practice social distancing indoors and outdoors. We have data to show that this technique works to slow the progression of the virus as it spreads.
In addition to social distancing, we must all continue to:
- Wash our hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and dry well.
- Cover our cough and sneeze with a tissue, or if unavailable, into the elbow area of our sleeve
- If sick stay home, self-isolate in one room and use a separate bathroom from our family or loved ones.
- Don’t be around sick people, unless you are their caregiver. Take appropriate precautions handling their clothes and dishes, etc.
- Get plenty of sleep, fresh air and practice good immune system health.
- When separating or readying clothes to wash, do not shake or jostle clothing, this can make any virus particles become airborne for up to 3 hours and lodge in your nose and potential infect you.
