Dallas Cop Killings: Candlelight Vigil Wednesday Night in Spotsylvania

The event will be held rain or shine outside the Public Safety Building, according to the Spotsylanvia County Sheriff's Office.

Spotsylvania Sheriff Roger L. Harris is inviting folks to attend a Community Candlelight Vigil Wednesday night at 7 outside the Public Safety Building (9119 Dean Ridings Lane).

A spokesman from his office said the vigil is for the families of the five police officers killed last week in Dallas by a lone gunman who, before finally being killed by police after a standoff, told negotiators he didn't like white people and, specifically, white cops.

All five slain officers were white.

The cop killings came after a tumultuous week of nationwide protests over the killing of two black men by police. The Dallas protest had been peaceful until the shooting began.

In attendance will be Harris, as well other community leaders from Spotsylvania and surrounding communities. The even will be held rain or shine.
