Democratic Presidential Candidate To Visit Fredericksburg
Colorado Senator Michael Bennet will be holding a town hall meeting on the campus of the University of Mary Washington.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president, will be visiting Fredericksburg on Wednesday for a town hall meeting on the campus of the University of Mary Washington (UMW). Bennet will meet with students and residents in Room 240 of UMW's Monroe Hall from 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m.
During his Dec. 4 visit to Fredericksburg, Bennet, the senior senator from Colorado, will discuss his plans to spur economic growth, expand health care access, fight climate change and address problems with the nation's political system. Bennet has not qualified to appear on the Democratic Party's primary debate stage since July after failing to meet the polling and fundraising thresholds set by the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
Bennet will be appearing at UMW one day after the first top-tier Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, announced she was dropping out of the presidential race. On Monday, Montana Gov. Steve Bullock also dropped out of the race, after falling far behind in the polls and fundraising.

Bennet has criticized the DNC's debate eligibility requirements that have kept both him and Bullock, two centrist Democrats, out of recent debates. Bullock has succeeded in winning statewide office in Montana, a state that President Donald Trump won overwhelmingly in the 2016 presidential election.
The University of Mary Washington Young Democrats group is hosting Bennet's visit to UMW.
