SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — A domestic violence call in Spotsylvania County escalated into a vehicle pursuit Thursday, ending with a crash and the arrest of a local man on multiple felony charges, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the 4900 block of Plank Road after receiving reports of a violent domestic incident taking place in the roadway. When deputies arrived, they located the vehicle involved and attempted to speak with the driver.

Authorities said the driver, identified as Keith Knowles Jr., refused to cooperate and fled the area with a female passenger still inside the vehicle.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but Knowles allegedly continued driving, leading law enforcement on a pursuit through the area. During the chase near Plank Road and Spotsylvania Towne Centre, investigators said Knowles intentionally struck a sheriff's office cruiser before crashing into a second patrol vehicle.

The pursuit came to an end after the suspect crashed near the intersection and was taken into custody without further incident.

No injuries were reported. The Sheriff's Office said the female victim, her dog and members of the public traveling through the area were not harmed during the incident.

"Domestic violence situations are often unpredictable and can quickly escalate, placing victims and the public at significant risk," the Sheriff's Office said in a statement. Officials added that the suspect's actions demonstrated "a complete disregard for the safety of others."
