Downtown's Griffin Bookshop Closed

The Griffin Bookshop and Coffee Bar — a favorite stop for locals and visitors to downtown Fredericksburg — closed its doors for good on Saturday.

Owner Eileen Boyd announced last month that she is heading to Florida to spend more time with her family.

On Monday, she posted a picture of the store window on Facebook, with a message, “Thank you for 9 years! #LoveFXBG”

In her message announcing the close, Boyd noted that downtown Fredericksburg will continue to need their support.

She wrote, “Please remember to continue to shop local - the only way to keep our downtown thriving!”
