Emergency Road Repairs Completed On Route 1 In Spotsylvania
VDOT shut down a private developer's paving operation along a strip of Route 1 for not complying with the department's guidelines.
SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — The right northbound lane on Route 1 in Spotsylvania County near the Caroline County border has reopened after road crews completed emergency pavement repairs, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) said Tuesday.
Last Thursday, VDOT shut down a private developer's paving operation along the strip of Route 1 for not complying with the department's guidelines. The right northbound lane, between Arcadia Road and the Caroline County line, was shut down late on Jan. 2 and reopened early on Jan. 7.
VDOT was forced to hire a contractor late last week to complete the emergency repairs. The crews had to mill and pave to reopen the lane with a safe travel surface.
