EZ Pass Flex Transponders Hit AAA Locations
Ahead of 495 Express Lane opening, customers can buy kits at 13 different locations, including one in Fredericksburg

The 495 Express Lanes may not open until later this year, but customers will needed to take the option at stores across Virginia.
A week after officials announced the launch of EZ Pass Flex, a device that will allow high-occupancy vehicles to ride for free in the express lanes, AAA has sent the devices to 13 locations across the Northern Virginia region, it announced Monday.
The beltway express lanes, which will run from the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) exit to the I-95/395/495 interchange (the “mixing bowl”) will be free for all vehicles with three or more occupants, but all drivers will need an EZ-Pass transponder to use the lanes. Drivers wishing to take advantage of the HOV toll-free option will have to purchase an EZ-Pass Flex.
