Two families were terrorized by drunk intruders in two separate New Year's Eve night incidents: Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

STAFFORD, VA — New Year's Eve became quite the eventful New Year's Day for two unsuspecting families following a night of inebriation, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Namely, in separate incidents, the two homes were broken into and residents were assaulted.

In the first incident, around 4:45 a.m. on Landmark Drive, police went to the residence after being notified of the break-in. They found that a man, Kelvin Cruz, 19, entered the home by kicking through a glass storm door and then a steel door. When he got inside, he pushed past the homeowner and tried to walk up the stairs where the homeowner's wife and children were sleeping.

Police were able to subdue him, and smelled a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He was charged with breaking and entering, destruction of property and public intoxication.

In the second incident, early Monday morning on Stafford Mews Court, police went to the scene for a reported break-in. A man told them he and the suspect, Sabrina Vaughn, 39, were driving home from a New Year's Eve party when they got into an argument during which she began punching him.

He got out of the vehicle on Garrisonville Road and walked the rest of the way home. Later, Vaughn drove to the residence and began pounding on the door, waking up the family. The owner of the home, the victim's mother, opened the door and Vaughn then pushed her aside. The victim tried to get her to calm down but instead she grabbed him by the hair.
