Cargo Van, Tractor-Trailer Crash in Stafford County, Killing One: Police
A driver died on Monday morning in Stafford County after their cargo van collided with a tractor-trailer near Warrenton Road, police said.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A cargo van and a tractor-trailer crashed on Monday morning in Stafford County. The driver of the van died in the crash, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
The area near Warrenton Road and Ashburn Lane was shut down for several hours as authorities investigated the crash.
The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, October 4.

"The initial investigation has revealed that a cargo van crossed over the divider and struck a northbound tractor-trailer head-on," Major Shawn Kimmitz of the sheriff's office said in a video. "This accident caused the driver of the cargo van to be ejected with fatal injuries."

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries in the crash, police said. They were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The deceased van driver was not immediately identified.
On Monday morning, traffic in the area was diverted onto Richland Road. Later, drivers were diverted to Storck Road. The sheriff's office asked drivers to take an alternate route to avoid Warrenton Road and Ashburn Lane.
