Fatal Crash In Stafford Leads To Charges For Ohio Woman: Police

A 57-year-old man died in a crash in Stafford on Monday morning, police said. Authorities charged an Ohio woman with reckless driving.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — One person died after a crash on Warrenton Road in Stafford County on Monday morning, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities charged an Ohio woman with reckless driving in connection with the crash.

Police identified the deceased man as 57-year-old Thomas Mundy from Stafford. He died at the hospital on Monday.

The sheriff's office identified the Ohio woman as 63-year-old Barbara Simon. She is charged with one count of reckless driving. Simon's initial court appearance is scheduled in August.

The crash occurred around 8:45 a.m. on Warrenton Road/U.S. 17 near Fleet Road. Investigators said Simon's Chevy Impala was travelling southbound when it crossed the media and hit Mundy's northbound Nissan Versa.

The collision pushed the Nissan into a van and caused the car to flip, police said. An ambulance took Simon and a passenger in her vehicle to a hospital for treatment. An ambulance took Mundy to the hospital as well, where he died of his injuries. Nobody in the van was injured, according to the sheriff's office.
