A man fleeing on foot from officers, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, ran through backyards and in and out of a town home.

STAFFORD, VA — A man who fled from police on foot in creative but ultimately ill-fated fashion after lying to an officer about his identity regarding an abandoned vehicle was arrested Tuesday in the 1200 block of Thomas Jefferson Place, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

Antonio Ronald Scott, 31, of Thomas Jefferson Place, was charged with obstruction of justice, false identification to law enforcement, resisting arrest and breaking and entering. He's being held without bond.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., a police volunteer was investigating an abandoned vehicle on Thomas Jefferson Place noted that a white Volkswagen had a flat tire and expired Virginia tags. While doing paperwork, he was confronted by three men, one of whom identified himself as the owner but later, absent an ID card, gave a responding officer identification information deemed to be phony.
