Four-Vehicle Crash Kills Fredericksburg Man

A four-vehicle crash last week in Manassas left a Fredericksburg man dead, according to Prince William County Police.

MANASSAS, VA — One man was was killed and several others injured during a four-vehicle crash during morning rush hour last Wednesday at the intersection of Sudley Manor Drive and Sudley Road, according to Prince William County Police. Scott Allen Rutherford, 53, of Fredericksburg was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries two days later.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., police responded to the scene and found that an 86-year-old woman driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze was headed west on Sudley Manor Drive when she collided in the middle of the intersection with a 2010 Dodge Journey headed south on Sudley Road. That, in turn, caused a chain-reaction crash in which the Chevrolet Cruze then struck a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado — Rutherford's vehicle — which caused the Silverado to overturn, and in the process hit a 2012 Hyundai Elantra headed east on Sunday Manor Drive.
