Fredericksburg Coronavirus Update: 135 Cases
There are 28 new cases of the coronavirus in the health district, and no new cases in Fredericksburg as of Wednesday.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA – There are 135 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Fredericksburg, officials announced Wednesday afternoon.
Fire Chief Mike Jones gave an update Wednesday on the number of cases in the health district, which is now at 1,381 confirmed cases. There are 657 cases in Stafford, 474 in Spotsylvania, 60 in King George, and 55 in Caroline.
There are 28 new cases in the health district, and no new cases in Fredericksburg as of Wednesday. More than 9,000 people have been tested in the health district and the positivity rate is at about 14 percent, which is on par with the state's test positivity rate.

To date, there have been 16 coronavirus-related deaths in the health district.

Jones also discussed Governor Ralph Northam's new executive order requiring people to wear face coverings while inside businesses. Residents over the age of 10 must cover their mouth and nose in the following locations:
- Personal care and personal grooming businesses
- All essential and non-essential brick-and-mortar retail businesses
- Food and beverage establishments
- Entertainment and recreation performances
- All public transportation
- Any other indoor place shared by groups of people in close proximity
The executive order will be in effect on Friday.
