Fredericksburg Election Results: Northam Easily Trumps Gillespie
Fredericksburg broke in a big way for ultimate winner Ralph Northam over Republican challenger Ed Gillespie. Check out other local races.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Voters here demonstrated their political differences with their immediate neighbors Tuesday night in Virginia's 2017 gubernatorial election. Fredericksburg went big for the ultimate winner, Democratic candidate Ralph Northam, giving him a 30-point win over Republican challenger Ed Gillespie.
But in neighboring Stafford County, Gillespie won 52-47. Similarly, Gillespie took Spotsylvania County 56-43. In Fredericksburg, Northam received 4,635 votes to Gillespie's 2,458. Northam's overall margin over Gillespie was a surprisingly high nine points in a race that polls showed being considerably closer.
