Fredericksburg Opens 2026 Sustainability Awards For Downtown Businesses
Applications for downtown Fredericksburg businesses in the 2026 Sustainability Award program can be submitted though May 30.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — On April 1, Fredericksburg opened the 2026 Sustainability Award cycle for businesses in the city’s downtown district, with applications remaining open through May 30. The Fredericksburg Clean & Green Commission announced the new round of the program, which recognizes local businesses for environmental responsibility, community engagement and sustainable business practices.
Downtown businesses are invited to complete a short sustainability questionnaire about practices such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, local partnerships and environmentally conscious operations, according to the city. The program is focused on businesses located in downtown Fredericksburg.
The Sustainability Award program is intended to recognize businesses that support a cleaner, greener Fredericksburg while also encouraging continued progress toward the city’s environmental goals. The commission said the downtown business district remains the focus of the effort because its concentration of locally owned businesses creates opportunities to highlight sustainable practices and encourage community leadership.
