Gas Prices Climb in Virginia: Cheapest Gas Mapped
Easter weekend prices will be at their highest so far this year, but the spring prices are lower than past year.

The price of gas in Virginia has spiked, just as travelers fill up for Easter and spring travel plans.
One month ago, gas in Virginia was at $1.54. Today, the average price of a regular gallon of gas is $1.89, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
“In addition to celebrating Good Friday and Easter, many families also take road trips for spring break," said Martha Mitchell Meade, AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Manager of Public and Government Affairs. "As they hit the road, they will still pay the cheapest prices for gasoline for the spring holidays and spring break since 2004.”
These are the highest prices in 2016, but we were paying $2.22 a gallon a year ago.
“The recent uptick in the average retail price of gasoline can be attributed in part to another rite of spring: the seasonal switchover from winter-grade to summer grade gasoline at refineries across the land this springtime,” Meade said in a statement.
