Nowadays everyone is busy in the hustle and bustle of their own lives and don't have time to do any good to others. But, serving humanity is the core principle of Islam. As an Ahmadi Muslim, I continuously get to experience the pleasure of serving people by giving alms, donations, feeding the poor, and helping the needy with their wedding expenses etc. Such charitable works always leave me delighted, gratified, and satisfied. These profound feelings keep inspiring and encouraging me to constantly carry out such acts.
One might think what is the purpose of the creation of mankind? The Qur’an says, “You are the best people raised for the good of mankind..." (3:111). The Holy Qur’an expects Muslims to live a useful and purposeful life by benefiting others because it has made it clear that we all have been raised to serve others.
We should make it a part of our daily routine to remain focused on finding ways to accommodate others because that is what brings us close to God Almighty. Additionally, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized that “Whosoever alleviates the difficulties of a needy person who cannot pay his debt, God will alleviate his difficulties in both this world and the hereafter.” The founder of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him), also affirmed that we should be beneficial to human beings through our God-given abilities and powers. These can be through financial or nonfinancial contributions and we can become sources of perpetual charity. The service to humanity can be as simple as just having a welcoming glance on our faces for people around us. A smile is also a charity. Let's spread happiness and smile in our surroundings every day.
