ICYMI: Three Local Racers Earn Trips to National Soapbox Derby
Noah Prestidge, Oscar Vendetti and Maddie Johnson will represent the community at the national race in Akron, Ohio, next month.

Three local racers will represent the Fredericksburg community at next month’s National Soapbox Derby in Akron, Ohio, after winning at the 19th annual Rappahannock Regional Soapbox Derby last weekend.
One of the largest local races in America, the Rappahannock Regional Soapbox Derby (sponsored by Fredericksburg Parent & Family Magazine as well as Cox Communications), was held on the hill on William Street in Fredericksburg, and included more than a dozen competitors across its three divisions.
Noah Prestidge, a 17-year-old first-time racer from Stafford County, won the Masters division to earn his trip to Akron. Prestidge is a student of Alvin Staples, the local race director.

Oscar Vendetti, a 12-year-old from King George, won the Stock division. Vendetti has four years of racing experience and was sponsored by Carroll’s Automotive.
Maddie Johnson, a 17-year-old and fellow King George resident, relied on her six years of experience to win the Super Stock division. Johnson was sponsored by WFLS radio.

The National Soapbox Derby will be held from July 19-26 in Akron.
