iPhone Tracker Leads Police to Theft Suspect

A King George resident used an iPhone tracking application to locate his phone that was stolen at Hyperion Espresso on Friday morning.

Fredericksburg police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said the victim activated the tracking application on his phone and used a computer at the visitor center to pinpoint the location of it. The victim called police and officers responded to Micah Ministries at 1013 Princess Anne St. and arrested Taurean Hansley, 30, for felony larceny.

The following crimes are in Monday's police blotter:

Relax Inn, 1904 Princess Anne St, Aug. 1–4, 11 a.m. :A guest reported that personal documents were stolen from his room. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

1900 block of Blue Gray Pkwy., 6 a.m.– 11:50 a.m. Saturday: A King George resident reported that her scooter broke down and she left it on the side of the road and continued to work. The scooter was later located at a business in Spotsylvania County where two male subjects were attempting to sell it to the store. The store manager contacted the Sheriff’s Office because he found the sale suspicious. A Spotsylvania deputy arrested the two suspects and met a City officer at the magistrate’s office so charges could be placed by both jurisdictions. Juan Rosa, 27, and Jose Rivera, 31, both of Fredericksburg were arrested and each charged with motor vehicle larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny (Fredericksburg charges) and possession of stolen property and attempting to obtain money by false pretenses (Spotsylvania charges). Rosa and Rivera were incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail, each under a $2,500 bond.

Army National Guard, 1700 Jefferson Davis Hwy., 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday A Spotsylvania resident reported that his drill bag containing gear was stolen from the facility. The investigation is ongoing.

400 block of Virginia Ave, Saturday – Sunday, 11 a.m. A resident reported that an unknown person rummaged through both of his vehicles and stole a purse from one of them. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Bottom Dollar, 515 Jefferson Davis Hwy., 8 p.m., Sunday: An employee reported that a female subject concealed items of merchandise in a bag and then left the store without paying. The suspect was described as a white female in her 20’s and she drove from the scene in a maroon Toyota. The investigation is ongoing.
