Arrest Made In Abduction Attempt Of Girl, 9, In Stafford County
Steven Randall Williams was arrested at his home in Stafford following a five-hour standoff with law enforcement.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A suspect has been arrested in this week's attempted abduction of a 9-year-old girl in Stafford County, authorities announced Saturday.
Steven Randall Williams, 34, of Stafford, was taken into custody at his home just before 9 p.m. Friday night, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
Williams allegedly tried to kidnap the girl Friday afternoon while she was walking home from her bus stop on Embrey Mill Road, authorities said. He put her in his car but the girl was able to open the passenger door and escape.

A SWAT team attempted to arrest Williams, but he refused to come out of his home, authorities said. After multiple communication attempts and a five-hour standoff, a K-9 unit was sent into the home. Williams was arrested soon after, authorities said.

Williams is currently in jail awaiting a bond hearing, according to law enforcement.
