Man Charged With Murder After Presidents Day Shooting In Stafford
Police arrested a 22-year-old man and charged him with murder in connection with a shooting in Stafford County on Presidents Day.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A 22-year-old Stafford man faces murder charges, the sheriff's office said. Police accused the man, Tarik Shiggs, of shooting a victim several times on Presidents Day.
The shooting occurred at an apartment's courtyard in Stafford, police said. The victim, 25-year-old Christopher McDuffie, died on Monday after someone shot him multiple times.

Through their investigation, detectives identified Shiggs as a suspect last week. Authorities also determined that Shiggs fled Virginia for South Carolina.
"Our office worked closely with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Fugitive Team and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office to locate Shiggs," the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Authorities in South Carolina found Shiggs on Friday and took him into custody. They held him at the Sumter County Detention Center until authorities could take him back to Stafford County.
Shiggs faces charges of murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
