Memorial Day 2022: Where To Find Events Around Fredericksburg
Memorial Day is on Monday, May 30. Fredericksburg residents will be able to attend several events to mark the solemn occasion.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Memorial Day, which falls on May 30 this year, is a solemn holiday. Residents around Fredericksburg and the rest of the country will reflect on American servicemembers who died in the line of duty.
In the Fredericksburg region, there will also be several events throughout the holiday weekend to mark the occasion.
On Memorial Day weekend, members of local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops will place luminaries on the 15,000 graves of fallen soldiers at the Fredericksburg National Cemetery. The luminaria traditionally takes place on the Saturday before Memorial Day.

On Memorial Day itself, Civil War reenactors will gather at Fredericksburg's Riverfront Park at the intersection of Charlotte and Sophia Streets. The actors will reenact a procession of Black and white soldiers that took place in 1871. The one-mile procession will end at the Fredericksburg National Cemetery.
On Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, there will also be a food truck music festival on Central Park Boulevard. The event, which is hosted by Funland, will include tons of food trucks and local musicians.

At 1 p.m. on Memorial Day, there will also be a wreath laying ceremony at the Hugh Mercer monument in Fredericksburg.
