Missing Local Man Found in Maryland

A local man reported missing earlier this week has been found at a campground in Maryland, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said.

Lance Buckley, 33, is “in good condition,” the sheriff’s office announced Friday afternoon. As part of the massive police search for him earlier Friday, the sheriff’s office released two photos of Buckley using an ATM Tuesday at Howard University in washington, D.C.

He was located in Frederick County by the Brunswick Police Department and Rangers from the National Park Service at the Brunswick Family Campground, near Harper’s Ferry, W.Va. The agencies were responding to tips that an individual meeting Buckley’s description was seen in the area, the sheriff’s office said.

Buckley, a graduate student at Howard University, disappeared Tuesday, and his family contacted Stafford police. He had been scheduled to graduate Saturday with a doctoral degree.

His phone was located in a park in Montgomery County, Md., on Wednesday, but police found no trace of him.

The successful search for Buckley involved a variety of law enforcement agencies in the region. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Montgomery County Police Department, the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, the Howard University Police Department, the U.S. Park Police, the National Park Service, the Brunswick, Md., Police Department and the FBI for their assistance in the investigation.
