MOMMY MONDAYS

I have declared that Mondays, thanks to the help of Alona in the boutique, Vanessa for suggesting and Sandy & Phil for the gentle push, are Mommy Mondays.  Meaning I will not set foot into the PITAIYO boutique.  I left my 9-5 job so that I could actually get to know my three year old, get my six year old child off the bus and open a cookbook and try a new recipe to feed my family.  I like working but I also like to be the apron wearing wife with table set and dinner ready to be served when my husband comes home from work.  So Monday’s are my day to be just that a mother and wife.  Am I not a wife the other six days of the week?  Yes, to answer your question but I am also an entrepreneur with big aspirations for PITAIYO.  So, if you call or email me on Monday, I’ll get back to you Wednesday.  If you have yet to read the 4-Hour work week by Tim Ferriss it’s a good read – you’ll question the hours in your day after reading his book.

Life is sweet.  Life is sweet if you take the time to stop and smell the roses.  If you don’t take the time to smell the roses life will suck you in like a vacuum, and not in a good way.  I’m talking suck you in and hold on to you unless you change.  So before I get sucked further in, I’m taking Mondays so I can smell the roses of my sweet children.

There are two great goodies I’d like to share with you.  Two goodies that enable me to catch myself from being sucked in by the Hoover vacuum of life.

  1. A video by Brendon Bouchard.  In this video he discusses an engagement scale.  How engaged are you? One (1) on the scale is not engaged and 10 is fully engaged.  Example: someone is speaking to you and your mind wanders, you’re totally check out, you’d be a one or two on the engagement scale.  I mention this scale because I want to be a 10 with my family.  It’s hard to find balance.  But being aware is the first step to making change.
  2. Quitting.  The affirmation this week in PITAIYO is to quit something or someone that no longer brings pleasure.  With that statement mind you I am a hard worker so I don’t mean quit at the first sign of blood.  Rather, if you give it your best: engagement scale 10+ and you get now where it’s time to quit.  The article Cut Your Losses: How To Know When To Quit by Elizabeth Grace Saunders explains this beautifully with examples.

In PITAIYO we like to be really positive and do things that make us whole in heart and soul.

This is me practicing what I preach.
