Motorcyclist Strikes Metal Fence Near Movie Theater

A motorcyclist remains at Mary Washington Hospital with serious injuries after crashing through a metal fence that surrounds the parking lot at Regal Cinemas. The incident happened at about 1:40 a.m. Thursday.

Fredericksburg Police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said police determined that the motorcyclist, John Wolfe, 30, of Catlett, had failed to make the turn and crashed. He was unconscious when police arrived and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Police obtained his blood-alcohol levels and issued a warrant against Wolfe for DUI, which has not been served as of this morning.

About two hours later on Thursday, Bledsoe said that officers responded to the 1600 block of College Avenue for a vehicle collision. She said a yellow Pontiac G-5 crashed into a parked Volkswagon Jetta.

"The driver of the Pontiac had fled the scene on foot," she said. "Information pertaining to the owners of both vehicles was determined through DMV registration files, and the offending driver was located a short time later walking in the 2300 block of Cowan Boulevard.

Lainey Leblanc, 20, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for DUI, hit and run, and underage possession of alcohol. Leblanc was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a $1,000 bond.

Larceny:

1300 block Littlepage St,  5 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Thursday: A resident reported that his motorcycle was stolen from the street in front of his home. The motorcycle is described as a 2003 black Yamaha with a Virginia license plate. The investigation is ongoing.

800 block Wolfe St., 4:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday: A resident reported that her motor scooter was stolen from the sidewalk in front of her home. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Vandalism:

1400 block Littlepage St., Wednesday 10:30 p.m. to Thursday 9:30 a.m: A resident reported that an unknown person broke the glass in the passenger-side mirror of his car. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

2500 block Van Buren St., Wednesday to Thursday 10:55 a.m: A resident reported that an unknown person caused significant damage to the windshield, hood, mirrors and headlights of his vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
