Murder Suspect Sought After Fatal Shooting In Stafford: Police

Authorities are asking for the public's help finding a man accused of fatally shooting a victim in Stafford County on Saturday morning.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A man was fatally shot in Stafford on Saturday morning, the county's sheriff's office said. Authorities are now looking for a suspect.

Investigators have only identified the victim as a 33-year-old man from King George County. He died at an area hospital on Saturday.

The sheriff's office identified the suspect as 29-year-old Darren Jamal Newman. He is charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The sheriff's office has been unable to locate Newman.

The shooting occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday in the 100 block of Deacon Road. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds, authorities said. They took him to an area hospital where he later died.
