Every year has its beginning and its end. The beginning brings excitement, joy, new resolutions, etc., but the end is not always joyful. For some, the ending proves to be fruitful as they reflect back through the whole year while for others the year might not have turned out to be as good. It is kind of same as by the end of the day some people are very satisfied with whatever they achieved that day while others might not be happy with how their day is ending and waiting for the next day to start so they can try and make the next day better.
We all have free will and ability to choose for ourselves and it’s in our hands whether we sit idle and do nothing or instead make the next day or year better by making right decisions and turn the pages in our life for better. I believe as the New Year starts instead of dragging along the failures of last year, one should initiate new goals and task and strive throughout the year so that by the end of the year they will not have to face same disappointments as last year. Additionally, these goals should not only be set to improve in worldly matters but to enhance spirituality as well. We should continuously keep growing spiritually to make ourselves a better person. While looking after ourselves it is also our duty to take care of the people in our surroundings. According to my Islamic teachings excelling in faith and spirituality is as important as serving mankind. The Holy Qur’an emphasizes the worship of God and serving humanity. It states, “You are the best people raised for the good of mankind; you enjoin good and forbid evil and believe in God” (3:111).
I started my year with lots of prayers and goals of bringing mental, physical, financial, and spiritual growth in my life. I wish everyone a very happy New Year and may this year bring you all success, joy, satisfaction, and prosperity.
