Oktoberfest to Benefit Fredericksburg Area Service League

The Fredericksburg Area Service League will receive a financial donation from this year’s Oktoberfest event in downtown Fredericksburg that could be as much as $20,000.

Oktoberfest is Sept. 29 and this is its fourth year held in downtown Fredericksburg on Caroline and George streets. There will be a $2 cover this year and the proceeds go to the Fredericksburg Area Service League, an organization of women committed to improving and enriching the lives of Fredericksburg area children. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The event is expected to draw up to 10,000 people.

, with some minor changes to the exits and entrances and the street closings.

This year's Oktoberfest will also have a kid-friendly Kidtoberfest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in partnership with Fredericksburg Parent and Family magazine. The kid friendly event will feature face painting by Fun 2C Faces, balloon twister Mike Klee, and large inflatable attractions. All children will receive a free all inclusive pass to the children's area.

Oktoberfest lasts until 10 p.m.The entertainment will be provided by the SGTEV Hirschjager German dancers and German music by The Happy Dutchmen and Fredericksburg’s Elby Brass Band.
