Pair Overdoses On Heroin At Motel 6 In Stafford: Police
Two people overdosed on heroin Sunday inside a Motel 6 at 401 Warrenton Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
STAFFORD, VA — Two people overdosed on heroin Sunday inside a Motel 6 at 401 Warrenton Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. After treatment at the scene, both were arrested and taken to jail. Tara Michelle Sussman, 31, of Fredericksburg, was charged with possession of heroin and possession of controlled paraphernalia. Cody Andrew Godwin, 23, of Stafford County, was charged with distribution of heroin, one count of possession of suboxone and one count of obstruction of justice.
Godwin also was served with numerous warrants out of Stafford County, including four counts of grand larceny, four counts of commit larceny with the intent to sell, three counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, one count of attempted grand larceny and one count of conspiracy to commit grand larceny. He also was served with a Capias from the Stafford County Circuit court for probation violation. He's being held without bond.

Around 5:30 p.m., police responded to the scene for a report of a drug overdose. They found Sussman unresponsive and determined she was suffering from a heroin overdose. Police applied Narcan and she regained consciousness. Evidence of heroin use was found in the room.
During that incident, police were notified by a patron about a man in another part of the motel who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. It was Godwin. He had slurred speech and couldn't stand without assistance. Police found he had been affected by heroin use.

When police tried to arrest him, he resisted and was warned he would be pepper sprayed if he continued to resist. He calmed down and was handcuffed. Police then found he was associated with Sussman and had injected her with heroin, leading to her overdose.
