Pizza, beer, and rock ‘n roll will be offered up at Pizza Palooza! on Saturday, September 21. The annual event, a fundraiser for Fredericksburg’s Italian sister city group, will take place in downtown’s Market Square, from 5-9 PM. Music by Acoustic Onion will feature plenty of Beatles tunes and greatest rock hits.

Admission is $2 CASH, with beer and wine available for $5 a pour; of course, soft drinks and water are also available. The highlight of the evening is the $1-a-slice pizzas, and all will vote for their favorite pizza vendor to determine which pizza maker wins this year’s Battle of the Pizzas. Folks are requested to bring folding chairs.

The event is presented by the Fredericksburg-Este Association, and is also sponsored by the Fredericksburg Area Museum and radio station B101.5. This year’s pizza vendors are Aladin Restaurant Café, Castiglia’s Italian Restaurant, Primavera Pizza, and Vocelli Pizza.

Moss, Jr. D.D.S; Lewis Insurance Associates.; Hallowed Ground Tours; The Title Professionals; and an anonymous supporter.

The popular vote winner will be awarded the People’s Choice Award, a competition determined by the greatest number of poker chip votes cast for each of the four vendors. A panel of civic leaders will decide on Judge’s Choice: Best Specialty Pizza, and Judge’s Choice: Best Cheese Pizza. This year’s judges are Bob Whittingham of Whittingham and The Kitchen at Whittingham; Travis Bullock, General Manager of the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds; Jason Graham, City Council Member; and David Frazer of Frazer Wood Elements.
