Police: Car Theft Leads to Fight in Busy Intersection

Stafford man jailed after victim catches up to him on Plank Road, say Fredericksburg police

An attempt to steal a car led to a collision and a fight in the middle of a busy intersection during the evening rush hour Wednesday in Fredericksburg, according to city police

It all started at 6:45 p.m. at a Wawa convenience store at 1140 Carl D. Silver Pkwy., the Fredercksburg Police Department said in a report. A 46-year-old Stafford County resident reported that an unknown male subject entered his Toyota Camry and drove away while he was inside the store.

The victim flagged down a bystander in the parking lot and asked for his assistance in following the stolen car, police said. The bystander agreed, and the two men caught up to the stolen Camry, which was stopped at a traffic light on Central Park Boulevard at Plank Road (Route 3).
