Police Chase Of Stolen Truck In Stafford Leads To Charges
A Stafford woman faces charges after police said she stole a truck, struck multiple cars, and fled from police on Saturday afternoon.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A police chase of a stolen truck in Stafford on Saturday ended after a woman was arrested and charged with several felonies, according to a news release from the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities identified the suspect as Ebony Hampton, a Stafford resident.
On Saturday afternoon, deputies received a report of a stolen Ford F-150 truck and trailer in the 400 block of Wood Landing Road. As they responded to the incident, deputies also learned the stolen truck was involved in a nearby hit and run at the intersection of Wood Landing Road and Bethel Church Road.
Another deputy saw the stolen truck on White Oak Road, according to the news release. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the truck's driver ignored the deputy and ran through multiple red lights.

At this point, multiple deputies started to chase the stolen truck. At one point, police said the stolen truck drove into oncoming lanes to avoid spike strips placed by police to stop the chase.
Near Melchers Drive, deputies attempted to use their vehicles to create a rolling road block to stop traffic. The stolen truck struck one of the patrol cars involved in the road block, police said. The truck hit another vehicle as it ran a red light near Old Forge Drive.

The stolen truck was finally stopped by a deputy near the I-95 ramp. Police said Hampton attempted to flee on foot, but she was quickly apprehended.
Authorities said before the truck was stolen, Hampton was in a home on Wood Landing Road without permission. When a maintenance crew arrived to work on the home, Hampton confronted them with a shovel, according to the news release. Police said Hampton then stole the crew's truck.
Authorities said a resident suffered a back injury in the initial hit and run on Wood Landing Road. A deputy suffered a shoulder injury during the pursuit. The Stafford County Sheriff's Office did not disclose the severity of their injuries.
Hampton is charged with felony eluding, assault on a law enforcement officer, felony hit and run, grand larceny, reckless driving, traffic light violations and passing on the double yellow. She is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
