Police: Woman Charged in Fall Festival Fraud

Attendees of the popular Belvedere Plantation festival were targeted in online scam selling fake vouchers, according to Spotsylvania deputie

A woman is in custody on allegations that she sold fake online vouchers for admission Belvedere Plantation’s popular fall festival, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

Shelby Peele, 33 year old female of Spotsylvania, is charged with 8 felony counts of Obtaining Money by False Pretenses. She is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail, without bond.

Victims had filed complaints that they responded to a Facebook ad for the vouchers. When they attempted to redeem the vouchers at the plantation, the victims learned the tickets were fraudulent and not valid.

Sheriff Roger Harris said in a statement that there may be more victims in this case. He urges anyone who purchased the vouchers on Facebook to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
