Red Light Cameras Under Exploration By Spotsylvania County

Spotsylvania County Supervisor Chris Yakabouski said he sees cars running red lights "all the time," prompting the suggestion, reports say.

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — A county supervisor last week voiced his desire to potentially install red light cameras on stoplights throughout Spotsylvania County. Supervisor Chris Yakabouski suggested county officials look into the cameras following a vote to install cameras on county school buses, according to reports.

While Yakabouski told the Free Lance-Star he isn’t sure how his fellow supervisors feel about the cameras, he also said he sees people running red lights "all the time" and considers it a problem.

Supervisor Gary Skinner said wanted red-light cameras for years and would like to explore the possibility of bringing them to Spotsylvania. Supervisors Paul Trampe, David Ross and Tim Mclaughlin were more hesitant, according to the article, but said they are open to learning about it.
