FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Adora is a 2-year-old cat at the Fredericksburg SPCA who is now available for adoption.

"Her stunning coat and gorgeous eyes bring in many visitors, but the outgoing purrsonalities of Adora's feline roommates usually end up being the ones adopted," the Fredericksburg SPCA told Patch. "Adora is a complex kitty, you see, she isn't all about the petty-paws right away! Like any solid relationship, it takes time to build trust."

The SPCA's behavioral coordinator has been taking time to get to know Adora.

"When I sit in her room next to her every day, she allows me to reach into her bed and pet her head and neck," the behavioral coordinator said. "She purrs almost immediately and will rub against my hand, and she even begins drooling sometimes."

Adora may not open up right away, but that's okay. As the SPCA pointed out, people are the same way.

"So Adora isn't a turn-key kitty," the SPCA said. "Well, we aren't exactly turn-key people when it comes to being uncomfortable and out of our element, either!"

Still, when given time to warm up to someone, Adora shows she has love to give.

"If I spend time with her every day consistently, she begins to come out of her hidey-hole when I enter the room to see me after about a week," the SPCA's behavioral coordinator said. "She will take patience and needs time to fully settle in and be comfortable with being approached or getting attention."
