Rescue Me: Pogo Has 3 Legs And Lots Of Love To Give

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Pogo is a 10-year-old dog now available for adoption through the Fredericksburg SPCA. He only has three legs, but that won't stop him from living his best life.

Pogo came to the Fredericksburg SPCA via a shelter in southwestern Virginia. SPCA officials said Pogo had tired to self-amputate his leg after it became caught in a snare trap.

"Due to the municipal shelters being underfunded and understaffed, he was at risk for euthanasia due to his injuries," the SPCA said. "A small shelter in a smaller town doesn’t have big funds for a big surgery or the ability to perform this kind of care in-house."

Despite his dire circumstances, Pogo's story is far from over.

"With the combined efforts of the shelter Pogo came from, the Fredericksburg SPCA, and the Fred SPCA Locke Community Medical Center, Pogo had a chance to rewrite his story," the SPCA told Patch. "His leg was unable to be saved and Pogo underwent a full amputation."

Now, Pogo is full of joy on the road to recovery. The SPCA said that Pogo loves to dish out kisses to everyone he meets.
